A one-of-a-kind live figure drawing performance series where nude models embody zodiac archetypes in staged group compositions, while a lead artist draws in real time on projection and guides participants through each “sign.”

Join us at Gallery 198 as award winning, professional fine artist and acclaimed instructor James Xavier Barbour, founder of Decorus Atelier of Figurative Art, demonstrates figure drawing for every level of experience through three extended poses, each featuring multiple dynamic models in narrative compositions. Each pose channels the archetype of a different zodiac sign.

Launching with 1 hr long pose interpretations of the Zodiac signs Aries, Taurus, and Gemini, the evening features performances by Austin Patterson and Giovanni Ortiz.

Designed for both practicing artists and a general audience, this event offers a rare opportunity to either draw from life or simply experience the spectacle of live bodies, mythic staging, and real-time image-making. Artists are invited to work throughout the poses, while observers can move between watching the models and Barbour’s evolving large-scale projection.

Barbour’s live drawing will be projected at large scale throughout the evening, creating a dual experience of observing both the live tableau and its real-time interpretation. During breaks, he will circulate to offer optional feedback and guidance for those who wish to engage more deeply.
